Updating

I just went thru and updated my African American Mom's blog list.  Nearly all of us are home or close to it!!!  Take some time and visit the ladies.  Some have abandoned their blogs for Facebook... hmm hmm.... LOL.  But I love you guys.  And for those still working at it.... here's a little sweetness to motivate you!

  4. Ok -- so, why did I not make it to the list??? I too am African American (and Puerto Rican). So, here's a question for you (that I plan to put on my blog): which term is more inclusive -- African American or Black -- my girlfriends and I are currently engaged in this debate.

Lulu is truly precious, by the way - LOVE this photo!

  5. Awwwwww, look at LuluBelle! Girl, she looks so much like you until it's "lie-time" or shoud I say, "tell-it-a-nother-way"...!

And yeah, Lisa is a Woman of Color!!! I thought you knew (lol)!

Weighing in on the debate: I think the word-term African American is more inclusive to those of us of the African Diaspora. I prefer to use "American-African" because I like rebelling like that.

I detest the word/term "black" because I see it in terms of the crayon color and not of cultural/ethnic/tribal/nation richness...and it doesn't define the varies hues of our beautiful, full flavored skin tones at all (I'm burnt-fried-chicken-in-the-dirt brown)nor does it embrace all who come out of Africa's womb.

...shouldn't I be writing this on Lisa's blogspot instead of Robbin's? Love ya Robbin!!!!!

  8. I totally agree with Jebena's post! I too prefer African American as I believe that it is an expression of our history, culture and traditions.
